Although it does seem to be the case that physical printing is going out of style, there is still quite a few uses for it. Personally, I don’t think there will ever be a time where we completely rule out printing as an option altogether.

Posters and Banners Large format printing is still a big one. Even store signs can be considered large format printing. It’s still a great way to attract people walking by and help those trying to find you, notice you. Posters are used for advertising and knowledge awareness and are usually done in large format printing so as to be noticeable when hanging on a bulletin board or shop window.

Thank You Cards There’s nothing quite so personal as a hand written, personalized thank you card. Sending an email or some sort of digital thank you just doesn’t quite get the job done, effectively. Recently, I went to a one year old’s birthday party and soon after received a thank you card for my gift in the mail. It was written from the stand point of the baby and included were a couple of pictures of him playing with the toy I had give him. It was the perfect thank you card; it wouldn’t have been the same in an email although it could have been sent that way even with digital pictures.

Wedding Invitations This is another item that really cannot be done digitally. It technically can, but it is so much more classy and formal to physically send out invitations with an RSVP card and possibly pictures. Birthday invitations and less formal events find email invites or some sort of digital invite completely acceptable but anything like a wedding or gala requires a formal, physical invite.

Coloring Sheets Nothing can replace the physical printing of a child’s coloring book. Sure, there are coloring apps that you can download on your phone but picking up a coloring pencil and putting it to paper brings a satisfaction unlike any other. Child care experts say that children should learn to color on paper before introducing them to the electronic world of coloring

Custom Printed Items Getting a custom printed shirt or mug or something of the short is a popular gift among many. Printing companies regularly print off many of these kinds of things with customized messages on the item.

So, as you can see, physical printing is still a much needed service our community and generation today. There are some things that would never be able to be replaced by electronic service without diminishing the value of such items. Personally, I would not get rid of your printer just yet, or the printing company you use. They may be in business for a long time to come because of people like you and me who want to keep the personal touch alive and well for generations to come.
